Root canal treatment involves the removal of the pulp tissues from the tooth in the event that it gets infected or inflamed.

The pulp can be infected or inflamed due to either deep decay or an extensive restoration that involves the pulp, a cracked or fractured tooth due to trauma, excessive wear of enamel and dentine exposing the pulp, and sometimes as a result of severe gum disease. Signs of pulp damage may include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discolouration of the tooth, swelling, tenderness of the overlying gums, or a bad taste in the mouth. Occasionally there may be no symptoms at all.

I have been a patient at Cathrine court for around 3 years, from the moment you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile ( no pun intended) all the staff are polite and so caring. I am a very anxious patient, but hassian always finds a way to put me at ease. Neil is also amazing with my son who is non verbal autistic, always gives a high five and really understands when he’s had enough and there is no pressure on him! Which is what makes our visits here so comforting.

Fantastic from start to finish! Made my traumatic day much easier. My 2 year old fell and fractured his front tooth. He was not a registered patient but they booked him an appointment for the same day. Receptionist Jane was kind and empathetic to the situation. Hassan and his nurse Thea were great and made us both feel at ease. The appointment wasn't rushed. Teletubbies was put on for a distraction as topical applied. Within seconds the fractured segment of tooth was removed with NO TEARS!! And every staff member I met within practice that wasn't involved with our direct care including the practice manager Claire made a positive impact to our visit.We will be returning for regular check ups and leaving our current practice who were no help to us today! Thank you All.

Yesterday I saw my dentist Neil as usual for a thorough checkup followed by an appointment with the hygienist who gave me advice and my teeth a 5 star clean. Friendly reception staff, a comfortable waiting room and all the latest innovations. It’s good.

I was visiting my daughter and a day into the trip I developed excruciating pain in my jaw.I was very impressed with the surgery from the very first phone call when they gave me an emergency appointment the very next morning.From the moment I arrived they were knowledgable, empathetic and professional and friendly.If I lived lived here this would be the dentist I would use.As it is, my daughter just said she would move her whole family to this practice.

I changed to Dr Neil & his team back in October 2024 from having NHS dentists all my life. Going from the NHS approach of "Patch & Repair" I literally felt like I was on a factory conveyor belt. The difference is totally unbelievable. The service is so customer-based. I've had all my NHS crowns & filling removed/replaced (totally painless) I've had my teeth whitened and finally fully composite bonded. And there monthly payment plan is excellent value.

I’ve been a patient of Neil Shad for over ten years and have always received excellent treatment including an implant. At my routine check up last week I told him to go easy as I had suffered a bereavement and was in a bad way. He referred me to his colleague Lydia who is part of the Health Connections Team (which I had never heard of) and within ten minutes I was talking to someone at Frome Medical practice. Since then I have been made aware of the different therapies available for grief. I’m very grateful to Neil and Lydia for their guidance and kindness at this difficult time in my life.

I recently had cosmetic composite bonding to close some gaps in my smile.Hassan and Emily were absolutely brilliant from start to finish, making the whole process as simple as possible. They explained in depth the different options available and provided me with physical mock up insert of how it would look before the procedure took place. For 10 years I have put up with two broken molars after the dentist I was with previously said they couldn't be filled but would need crowns. When I eventually contacted Catherine Court, after a friend's recommendation, they have rebuilt both teeth perfectly in composite material. I couldn't be happier. Although it's a private practice I found the charges very reasonable, and the treatment by Dr Avrimas and nurse Hermione was cheerful, painless and fast. I wholly recommend them - I just wish I had found them sooner.

A lifesaver! -Well, at least a face saver! 😁Aurimas is extremely good.This practice is rare in that it has such good dentists and very helpful receptionists. I travel 200 miles to see them and it’s worth it. I am now moving closer to Frome.

Neil and the team provided excellent service after my most recent visit.I had not been for a while and so felt apprehensive, as well as the fact I was attending an appointment during Covid. However, the whole process made me feel very much at ease and very comfortable. Neil and the entire team work tirelessly to ensure that each and every patient is overseen to the best of their ability. Their COVID-19 control is excellent; really thorough and consistent.We have been with this practice for many years, each and every time I attend I comment how good Neil and his colleagues are. Treatment is talked through so that the patient fully understands what is planned and it’s all carried out completely painlessly. If there are any developing issues afterwards they are sorted quickly without drama.A super practice that I have no hesitation in recommending.
